Some time ago Pat Keane, Sean Fitzpatrick, Michael Reidy, Fr Peter Gannon and Bernard Guinann an archaeologist from Mayo Co Council, put together a documentary on the local Workhouse.
The results of the famine, the fever and the bodies which were thrown into an open grave, which is now covered over by a road.
Just a few years ago there was a memorial erected in honour of the dead on that roadside. Fr Peter Gannon performed the ceremony.
